It also has a 5V output, which a few of you might be interested in. This is a perfect supply for the kit. Connecting a 90 ohm power resistor in series with a. Because this unit is external, no AC enters your chassis. This means less potential for humm. Also, because the supply is outside, there are fewer size constraints on selecting your chassis.
Is it possible to hook up Amp/Subs to Uconnect 8.4 RA3 system?
I am fairly familiar with upgrading audio on cars as I have done so on my last 2. I just had a couple of questions I couldnt find clear answers for on the forums and was hoping you guys could help, you seem like you know your stuff and I trust your opinions. Basically I have a 10″ JL w3 sub in a high output box and an amp i want to install when I get my car, and possibly upgrade the speakers. I got the N head unit touchscreen with Nav from factory I was wondering if i could hook up the amp subs and speakers without messing up any of the audio controls, steering wheel controls, and uconnect and nav functions.
Sep 09, · the only problem i have is HOW to hook up this car amp to the audio input in the laptop, and the power source for it (it says +12v) and the power here is V!! i already have a audio to amp wire which i found at radio shack.

You cannot have too much subwoofer. A bigger subwoofer from the same manufacturer will always play lower, has lower distortion, more headroom, and better long term reliability if played at the same listening level. Hence, if budget is not an issue, going for the larger sub will always be beneficial, if there is no WAF or physical limitations. We have suggested room sizes that each subwoofer is recommended for. This of course is a very rough guide. Very much depends on individual tastes.

July 19, Most audio equipment dies for one simple reason. Most people push their equipment beyond its limits. Whether it is the amplifier, subwoofer or full range speakers, clipping is the number one cause of failure. To prevent clipping, use this tutorial. To figure out what voltage you should set the gains to, multiply the RMS power of the amplifiers output by the impedance of the speaker, then find the square root of that number.
This is also referred to as gaining down. Setting the Gain s To set the gain s , you need two things: A test tone CD to use to set the gains at the correct setting. Now, to set the gain s: Start the vehicle, and pop the test tone CD in the head unit. DO NOT hook up the sub s or speaker s to the amplifier while doing this, just leave the outputs unused at this time. Now, time to set up the head unit.

Ask Question Step 3: I decided to not cut up my PSU cables as i may need the computer it came from at some point, you will need to find the pins shown in the pic, they are on the connector that was originally on your motherboard, the cables should be green and black, any black ground connector will do the trick. Now a quick check, turn on your PSU and if the fan spins you’re all set for the next step.

I’m planning to upgrade from my cheap $40 speakers and sub to an entry level sound system. I’m planning to get a cheap $ sub and a pair of $ bookshelf speakers. I’m not sure how to set it up.
But what the manufacturer is not showing you is the bandwidth vs. Quality of bass and how well it integrates into a system is paramount. If I have to sacrifice a bit of extension and SPL to achieve this, so be it. The Set-Up I left my EP towards the left front corner behind my couch as it has been for the past 3 years. I placed one EP on top of it and the other EP diagonally located towards the back right of the room.
Luckily the distance between both EP s was relatively equal to the primary listening area making it much easier to integrate them and not have to worry about bass cancellations due to mismanaged time alignment between the two subs. I checked the phase and found they integrated best with both subs set to 0 degrees default. I always recommend using symmetry when placing your subwoofers relative to the primary listening area. The Analysis When setting up subwoofers in a home theater system, I always measure the response to ensure I am at least in the ballpark for great bass.
I run sweeps using LMS or my Sencore SP C Audio Analyzer, adjusting placement, crossover settings, phase and electrical distance until I measure the most linear response at my two primary listening positions. After level matching the EP and two EP s, I was ready to do a direct comparison between them integrated into my family room theater.
As you can see the dual EP response is much more linear across the entire frequency range. Gone is the 10dB suckout centered around 48Hz. This is a fairly narrow suckout with a Q roughly 4.

Jun 28, · Since you already have the amp, sub and RCAs I assume you know how to hook these up. All you need to do is use a LOC to convert the stock HU speaker outputs to RCA. So: stock HU speaker outputs to LOC, and then run the RCA cables from the LOC to the amp.
So what will we need to do this? But I doubt any of you guys will be using an amp that big. Walmart sells amplifier kits as do some other stores. The kits tell you how many watts they can handle. May 02, · And to hook up your amp from the head unit you will need a 20ft at most 4 gauge power wire with a fuse running directly from your vehicles battery to where the amp is placed. Also a remote wire that runs from your head unit to the : Resolved.
This is aimed at people who have some knowledge of car audio to begin with but I will answer any questions to the best of my ability if you have any. For this I went out to best buy and bought a Metra two channel line out converter since I was just running one sub. If you are running a full set of speakers you will need more than two channels. This is the line out converter I used, there are many others to choose from this was just in stock.
Its also a good idea to put a piece of masking tape around the end of each wiring and label them. This is to make sure nothing is shorted out while installing. I always like to run the amp positive and negative first but you can also run the signal wires first as well. Just remember to avoid feedback or static it is recommended to run them on opposite sides of the car. I ran my wire through a grommet somewhat easily accessible on the passenger side. For this the easiest thing to do was use the clothes hanger trick to feed the wire through the grommet.
Be sure not to cut any of the factory wires when doing this though. Do not put the fuse in the positive till you have it connected to the amp and the amp grounded as well. This is how I initially have the positive wire ran through the engine bay, it will be ran better in the future.

All you’re talking about is trying to allow the “Beat” to hit the same point in front of it as I am. The difference is that you’re suggesting that some LOW end be eliminated from a speaker that designed to take a full range signal. Why would you not use the speaker for it’s entire purpose?
Apr 08, · When you hook up the pac system it just gives you the ability to direct a fresh signal to your persoanl aftermarket amp. The pac system acts like a fork in the road allowing the source signal to split off in two directions one to your factory amp andthe other to your aftermarket amp.

Always a pleasure when people appreciate the time! Quote – ” To clarify, when an amp says 2ohm stable stereo, it really is saying that each channel can handle 2ohms for a 4ohm load rather than each channel can handle 1ohm for a 2ohm load right? On the face of it, 2 Ohms stable means guaranteed to work down into 2 Ohms without causing damage to the Amp, or limiting it’s full power into 2 Ohms.
Add extreme bass to your car’s system with the Kicker 10" Subwoofer, PT With an amplified loaded enclosure and grille for extra protection, the subwoofer is simple to set up and remove. It is also extremely durable to ensure that is stands the test of time/5(14).
February 3, I have the AMP and am currently using it to power my 2 front speakers in my 7. Would the AMP be able to power the subwoofer in addition to my 2 front speakers? Also, which subwoofer do you recommend of the two noted? The location would be lower front left corner of room approx. Thank you for your help! Good question, but I do not believe the AMP will help you out. Plus placement of your sub woofer can be critical. The advantage of the bulky sub woofer is you have the ability of determining where the best location for most bass is for your room being it is a self powered dedicated enclosure.
Of course since you already have it you can place the bulky sub in front of the location you are planning to install the sub in the wall and see how it sounds compared to its original location. The problem with the low frequencies is the size of the sign way that can create dead zones in the room. Which is one of the reasons most receivers have two sub outputs not to just sell you another sub. So if you can determine the location to add an in-wall sub will work.
You will need an external dedicated mono sub amplifier complete with crossover, gain and phase control to power it.
